The app uses the "Physical Therapy" session type to ensure continuous operation in the background, even with the screen off. This allows the use of voice commands from the assistant, audio reminders of the current intervals end, and transitioning to the next one. When the timer is in "Stop and Wait" mode or extended rest mode (over 30 seconds), proper background operation preserves your progress. In the current version, the app does not collect, store, display, or send any data (e.g., heart rate, step count, etc.).
